Ravel Trips is operated by Ravel Travel Inc. ("Ravel," "we," "us"). This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit raveltrips.com or plan and book a trip with us, how we use it, and the choices you have. Our Sparkboard app has its own privacy policy.
1. What we collect
What you send us
When you use the planning form or contact us, we collect what you give us: your name, email address, phone number if you add it, and details about your trip, such as where you want to go, who's going, dates, budget and anything else you tell us, and whether you'd like marketing emails from us. We also keep the emails and messages we exchange with you.
Trips sent from Sparkboard
When you tap "Get this trip planned & booked" in Sparkboard, the app sends us that trip and the contact details you share with it, so a planner can follow up.
Booking details
To book travel, we collect what the airlines, hotels and other travel suppliers require. That can include travelers' full names, dates of birth, contact details, passport or ID details, loyalty numbers, and needs such as dietary requirements or accessibility needs, plus payment details when you pay for a booking. If you give us information about other travelers, please make sure they're happy for you to share it.
Technical information
Like any website, our hosting provider records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. We use it to keep the site secure and working. This website doesn't use analytics or advertising cookies. Photos load from Unsplash and fonts load from Google Fonts, so those services receive your IP address when your browser fetches them.
2. How we use it
- To confirm we've received your request, reply to you and plan your trip
- To make, manage and change bookings for you
- To support you before and during your trip
- To keep records we need for accounting, tax and legal reasons
- To keep our website and services secure
We don't sell your personal information. We only send you marketing email, such as travel ideas and news about Sparkboard, if you tick the box on our form or otherwise ask us to. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe by emailing us.
3. Who we share it with
- Travel suppliers, such as airlines, hotels, tour operators, car rental companies and insurers, when it's needed to book and deliver your trip. Each supplier handles your information under its own privacy policy.
- Service providers that help us run Ravel Trips: Vercel (website hosting), Resend (sending our emails, and keeping the list of people who've asked for marketing email), Google Workspace (email and documents) and payment providers. They may use your information only to provide their service to us.
- Authorities, when the law requires it, such as for border and security checks on international travel, or to protect our rights or someone's safety.
- A new owner, if Ravel Travel Inc. is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. This policy would continue to apply to your information.
4. How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as we need it to plan, book and support your trips, and afterwards for as long as the law requires us to keep booking and financial records. If you've asked for marketing email, we keep your email address and first name on our list until you unsubscribe. If you send an inquiry and don't book, we delete it when it's no longer useful to you or us, or sooner if you ask.
5. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that's wrong
- Ask us to delete your information
- Object to or limit how we use it
- Get a copy of your information to take elsewhere
To use any of these rights, email support@raveltrips.com. We won't treat you differently for asking. If you're in the EU or UK, we use your information to provide the services you ask for, to meet legal obligations, and for our legitimate interest in running a secure, working business, and you can complain to your local data protection authority.
6. Where your information is processed
We're based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Travel suppliers process booking details wherever they operate, including at your destination.
7. Security
We use encrypted connections and reputable providers to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so please don't send us full card numbers or passport scans by plain email unless your planner asks you to.
8. Children
Our website isn't directed at children under 13. When a family trip includes children, we collect their booking details from a parent or guardian, only to book the trip.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll tell travelers with upcoming trips.
